Media Publicity and Photographs

Each year schools are involved in events which are covered by the media when photographs/videos may be taken which include students.  We also take photographs ourselves to publish in our newsletter, display around school and to place on our website.Permission for student involvement in media events is part of the enrolment process.

Medical

Students requiring medication during the day need to have their medicines labelled (name, dose, and times for administering).  Receipt of written authority is required from the parent/guardian for a first aid trained member of staff to administer prescribed medication.  The school is under no obligation to administer medication but endeavours to assist parents/guardians in the treatment of their children.  A written statement is also required from the student’s doctor.  Parents need to inform teachers and front office staff of the medication students are taking.  No medication can be left in a child’s bag.  A record book is located at the Front Office and medications are stored there in a locked location.  In the event of asthma or allergies, a written and signed action plan from the student’s doctor will be required from parents which will provide information to first aid staff regarding administration.

Mobile Phones

For safety reasons parents may want their child to have a mobile phone for before or after school use. Students may not have their mobile phones with them during school time; students should hand in their mobile phones at the Front Office before school and pick them up at the end of the day. The school does not take responsibility for lost, stolen or damaged devices that have not been handed in to the front office.

Music Programs

Music Programs

Instrumental Music Program
Students in years 5 and 6 have the opportunity to learn the ukulele. A teacher comes twice a week to our school from the Instrumental Music Program to teach the students how to learn to read sheet music, move in time to the beat as well as playing the instrument. The band program is an enrichment opportunity and there is a charge for the program which includes purchase of a ukulele, a music book and tuition twice a week.

Latham Choir
Latham’s choir is a vibrant non-audition choir open to students from years 3 to 6. The choir performs at school occasions as well as at other outside events..
